Governor Wolf announced last week three infrastructure projects have been approved for Lower Bucks municipalities.

The effort focuses on  bridge, rail, and bike and pedestrian projects totaling approximately $3.5 dollars coming from the multimodal transportation fund. The projects approved are to take place in Lower Makefield, Morrisville, and Yardley Boroughs.

“Transportation moves communities and economies forward,” Gov. Wolf said. “These investments will assist with overall mobility and safety in our local communities.”

The projects are as follows:

  • Yardley Borough – $312,147 to construct approximately 1,200 linear feet of concrete sidewalk along the northern side of North Main Street (SR 2071), as well as related storm water and pedestrian facility improvements.
  • ELU Deluca Yardley LLC – $3,000,000 to increase capacity of the Route 332 bypass and the I-295 Interchange in Lower Makefield Township. A multi-use trail will also be constructed along Stony Hill Road, completing a missing link in the local trail system.
  • Morrisville Borough – $150,000 to improve the pedestrian and traffic signals at the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and Trenton Avenue so that it is safer for the community.

State Rep. Perry Warren  (D-Bucks) said the projects are very important to improving pedestrian and traffic safety for the targeted municipalities.

PennDOT evaluated the applications and made selections based on criteria such as safety benefits, regional economic conditions, the technical and financial feasibility, job creation, energy efficiency, and operational sustainability.
