Motorist Alert: NJ Bound Single Lane Restrictions Scheduled on Scudder Falls Bridge for this Week

Another series of concrete pours and single-lane travel restrictions are scheduled at the Scudder Falls (I-295) Bridge during the upcoming week of June 13, the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission announced Saturday.

Concrete pours are scheduled for Monday night into Tuesday, Tuesday night into Wednesday, Wednesday night into Thursday, and Thursday night into Friday.  The right NJ-bound lane at the Scudder Falls Bridge will be closed to allow construction crews to carry out the work.

Bucks County residents commuting to job locations in New Jersey or the Trenton-Mercer Airport should anticipate backups and delays 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 15; Wednesday, June 16; Thursday, June 17; and Friday, June 18.  Two-mile-long backups with corresponding travel delays of more than 30 minutes are up to an hour are possible on I-295 eastbound approaching the bridge from Bucks County, PA.

The full schedule of anticipated Scudder Falls Bridge Replacement Project travel restrictions for the week of June 13 follows:

Pennsylvania side

  • I-295 EB and the Scudder Falls Toll Bridge (NJ-bound) – Single-lane travel (one of two lanes closed) likely Monday to Friday (also possible on Saturday in the event of weekday rainouts).
  • I-295 WB (PA-Bound) west of the Scudder Falls Toll Bridge – Intermittent off-peak single-lane pattern permitted west of the bridge 7 p.m. to 2 p.m. (next day) Monday, June 14, through Friday, June 18.
  • Taylorsville Road north of I-295  Intermittent single-lane patterns with possible flagger-controlled travel 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, June 14, to Friday, June 18.
  • Taylorsville Road south of I-295 – Intermittent single-lane patterns with possible flagger-controlled travel 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, June 14, to Friday, June 18.
  • River Road/PA Route 32 – Brief traffic stoppages possible in the vicinity of where River Road/PA Route 32 crosses beneath the Scudder Falls (I-295) Toll Bridge, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday, June 14, to Friday, June 18.

New Jersey side

  • NJ Route 175/Upper River Road in the vicinity of the I-295 overpass – Daytime closure/detour via nearby Route 29 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, June 14, to Friday, June 18.
  • I-295 NB (PA-Bound) – Intermittent off-peak single-lane pattern extending onto the new completed upstream span of the Scudder Falls Toll Bridge 7 p.m. to 2 p.m. (next day) Monday, June 14, to Friday, June 18.
  • I-295 SB – Intermittent off-peak single-lane pattern permitted 10 a.m. to 6 a.m. (next day) Monday, June 14, through Friday, June 18.
  • Route 29 NB – Potential short-term stoppages and flagging 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, June 14, to Friday, June 18.
  • Route 29 SB Bypass Lane – Continuing 24/7 closure with traffic shifted through the adjoining I-295/Route 29 interchange’s connector ramps and roundabouts for travel toward Trenton or onto I-295.
  • Route 29 connector lanes between roundabouts — Periodic traffic stoppages controlled by flaggers may be necessary in the detour area Monday through Friday.
  • NJ Route 175/Upper River Road entry ramp to I-295 SB – 24/7 closure continuing through spring 2021.  DETOUR: Use the southern roundabout at the nearby I-295/Route 29 interchange to access the on-ramp for I-295 SB.

The aforementioned scheduled travel restrictions are subject to change due to weather, emergencies, traffic, and equipment/materials mobilization.  Motorists are urged to allow extra time to reach their destinations, reduce speeds and exercise caution when travelling through project work areas.

Weekends

  • Single-lane closure NJ-Bound on Scudder Falls Bridge (I-295 EB from Pennsylvania side) for rescheduled concrete pour Friday night, June 11, into Saturday, June 12.  Aside from this closure and the blocked NJ Route 29 bypass lane beneath the Scudder Falls Toll Bridge in New Jersey, no other project-related lane closures are scheduled for June 12-13 and 19-20.

Delaware Canal Towpath (PA side) – Towpath closures are not anticipated during June.

Delaware & Raritan Canal Towpath (NJ side) – Daily closure/stoppages possible 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays through June.  These restrictions – when implemented – will allow for construction of a connecting path and access ramp to the shared-use bike-ped facility that is expected to open on the new Scudder Falls Toll Bridge in fall 2021.  Canal path open on weekends.

Lower Bucks municipalities has declared snow emergencies on Friday in advance of the expected snow storm that the National Weather Service says will dump anywhere between 10 to 15 inches on the Lower Bucks County area

A winter storm warning is in effect from 7 pm Saturday to 1 pm Monday.

1/13/2026
Burglary – 1400 block of Heather Ridge Dr. reported at 12:25 a.m. Police responded to the report of a burglary not in progress at the location. Further investigation revealed surveillance video from 1/9 at 6:19 p.m. showed two unknown person(s) used a ladder to force entry via a second floor bathroom window. Jewelry reported missing at this time. Investigation ongoing.

Fraud – 700 block of Bushnell Ln. reported at 9:11 a.m.. Complainant reported known person petitioned a fraudulent POA against them and has been wiring money from their account without authorization.

Credit Card Fraud – 600 block Leslie Ln. reported at 1:17 p.m.. Complainant reported unauthorized use of their credit card in the amount of $10,800.00.

1/11/2026
Criminal Mischief – 1900 block Woodside Rd. at the Garden of Reflection reported at 8:42 a.m. Complainant reported unknown person(s) drove a quad through the fields and caused heavy turf damage. Investigation also revealed damage at Woodside Rd. & Dolington Rd. Investigation ongoing.

DUI & Endangering Welfare of Children Arrest – 900 block of Vansant Dr. at Wegmans reported at 9:06 p.m. Police responded to the report of an intoxicated female who was denied the purchase of alcohol and had a young child in her custody. Upon police arrival, they observed the female operating a vehicle. A traffic stop was conducted. The 44 year old female from LMT was taken into police custody. She was charged with DUI & Endangering the Welfare of Children. She was arraigned by District Justice Petrucci and sent to BCCF in lieu of $25,000/10% bail.

Burglary– 1300 block of Prospect Farm Dr. reported at 12:56 a.m.. Police responded to the report of a burglary not in progress at the location. Further investigation revealed unknown person(s) forced entry into the residence via a second floor bedroom window and removed a firearm, jewelry, and approximately $15,000 cash. Investigation ongoing.
