Morrisville, like many other municipalities, will go virtual Monday night for its first full council meeting since the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions were put in place.
According to documents posted to the Morrisville Public Portal for next weeks council meeting, residents of the borough will be able to call in during the public comment part of the meeting that will be virtually streamed using the Zoom platform and televised on the local governmental access station.
Borough Manager Scott Mitchell said experimentation with streaming the council meeting live via YouTube would also take place Monday night.
“Its one of the many other ways of providing access to the council meetings we have been looking into recently so we are going to give it a try and see how it works” he said.
Borough officials recommend anyone looking to take part in the public comment section of the meeting to log in 10 minutes prior to the its start to ensure they are recognized by calling 1-800-780-8834 using the access code 3580850.
Questions may also be submitted by e-mail in advance of the public meeting (before 6 p.m.) to info@morrisvillepagov.com. Questions submitted by e-mail must include the name and address of the author for the record, officials said.
The recorded meeting will subsequently replay on the cable television channel and will also be accessible on the website and YouTube, officials said.
Other than emergency meetings to extend the Borough State of Emergency Declaration, council has not meet officially to conduct governmental business since March.
Mitchell said he is hoping to open the municipal building to the public soon, depending Bucks Counties status will be come the first week of June.
If the county is moved from its current red status to yellow, he said, we will begin to bring back municipal employees with a staggered approach, first he said beginning the first week of June with scheduled by appointment following and then reopening to the public fully about the second week of June he said.
“But again” Mitchell said “this is all depends on what is decided by the Governor on June 5th. We do remain real hopeful, though.”
This will be the first time council will be meeting with its new schedule in place. Council approved eliminating agenda meetings and consolidating its work into one meeting as a cost saving measure, officials said in March.
