Will You Attend an Outdoor Version of Bristol Flea Market?

Published

on

Late last week operators of the Bristol Indoor Flea Market asked a simple but perhaps complicated question out loud to its e-mail listing.

“If we re-open the flea market outdoors would you attend?”

Soprano said now that Governor Wolf announced Bucks County has moved to the Yellow Phase we can re-open the Flea Market but outdoors only.

Market Coordinator for PhilaFleaMarkets Tony Soprano  said “We’re aiming to add Friday’s to our weekend lineup and hoping to open the outdoor market the weekend of June 5.

Outdoor hours would be from 8 am to 4 p.m Friday through Sunday, Soprano said.

The market can not re-open indoors until Bucks County is moved into the Green Phase per the Governors Executive Order issued in March, but qualifies to open under the Yellow Reopening Phase, Soprano said.

The flea market in a sense has experienced some challenges since it was announced it was renting the space vacated by Walmart by in  2017.  But that has not deterred Soprano or dampened his hopes in making the venue a go-to place for shoppers in Lower Bucks.

markets grand opening attracted thousands to the Bristol Park shopping center in its first weekend filling the parking lot for the first time since Walmart closed operations right before Thanksgiving in 2017.

Attendees and vendors will have to adhere to social distancing guidelines and in person operational guidance, issued by Governor Tom Wolf  Additionally vendors will, according to the state guidelines, will need to routinely clean and disinfect areas which are considered “high touch.”

Soprano who put the question out to shoppers and vendors on social media  so far has received overall positive feedback about the outdoor plan, but the question about parking is also something on the minds of locals it seems.

Where will we park?” one social media poster inquired.

Soprano did say Saturday morning the outdoor flea market   will be on a “smaller scale.”

PhilaFleaMarkets has two other locations operating during the spring-summer seasons. One on Roosevelt Boulevard in Northeast Philadelphia. And a second in Center City.

I’ve decided not to re-open Roosevelt Mall Flea Market that runs on Sunday’s as I feel Philadelphia is still a bit too high risk, Soprano said.
“As for our Antique & Vintage Markets in Center City  our last market date for the Spring season was Sat, June 6th and the Non-Profit organization that it was to benefits has already canceled that event. Our next Antique & Vintage Market isn’t until September so I’m
hoping by then we’ll be in the Green Phase.”

After a long winter, many people are now looking ahead to spring break travel. Whether your plans have you headed to the beach or traveling abroad, GIANT and MARTIN’S pharmacists are available as a resource with pre-travel health consultations and over-the-counter product suggestions.

“The same way you may enlist the expertise of a travel agent when booking your vacation, your local GIANT or MARTIN’S pharmacist also has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to ensuring you have the right vaccinations or health essentials ahead of your trip,” said Nick Koch, director of pharmacy and wellbeing, The GIANT Company. “From pre-health travel consultations to offering recommendations for the best sunscreens and first aid basics, don’t overlook the value that our team of pharmacists can bring to your vacation preparations.”

If your spring break plans have you traveling aboard, GIANT and MARTIN’S pharmacists can also get you adventure ready with a pre-travel health consultation approximately as soon as travel dates are confirmed and a minimum of one month before you leave. This includes vaccines, prescription referrals, and over-the-counter medications.

Vaccines* include but are not limited to yellow fever vaccine (available at select locations), typhoid vaccine and cholera vaccine. Prescription referrals include malaria prevention, traveler’s diarrhea prevention and care, motion sickness prevention and altitude sickness prevention. For more information or to schedule an appointment, visit https://giantfoodstores.com/pages/pharmacy-services.

GIANT and MARTIN’S pharmacists advise that any prescription medication should always be packed in one’s carry-on bag, never in checked luggage, and preferably in the original container with the prescription label affixed. Be sure to bring enough for your trip as well as extra should there be any travel delays.

Travelers are also encouraged to pack a small first aid kit for on-the-go use. This should include bandages of various sizes, gauze pads, antibiotic ointment, hydrocortisone cream, tweezers and a thermometer. Be sure to add over the counter pain relievers, antacids, decongestants, hand sanitizers and antibacterial wipes, too. Additional items may be needed based on one’s destination and weather.
