Bucks Co Human Services to Host Public Forum on CARES Act Funding & Applications

The Bucks County Human Services Division will host two public forums this week – one in person, the other virtually – to discuss the application process and funding priorities under the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.

The discussions are being held to discuss guidelines for applying for these funds, as well as to solicit public comment about projects specific to Bucks County that could benefit from the funding.

An in-person forum will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, in Room 110 of the Bucks County Administration Building, 55 East Court Street in Doylestown. The forum will include a question-and-answer session with leaders from the Human Services Division.

Because seating will be limited at this session by social distancing requirements, you must make a reservation by July 14 by emailing amcrosson@buckscounty.org.

A second public forum will be hosted via Zoom at noon Thursday, July 16. No RSVP is required for this meeting, which also will include a question-and-answer session with Human Services leaders. Detailed Zoom information can be found at the end of this release.

The CARES Act established a Coronavirus Relief Fund that included a $150 billion national appropriation. Federal guidance was released on April 22, and updated on June 24, explaining how CARES Act funds could be used to support state, local and tribal governments.

The Bucks County Human Services Division will be prioritizing funding applications that address a continuum of community needs, including food insecurity, employment, child well-being, mental health, substance use treatment and housing. In the event your organization meets the funding criteria, you may be invited to apply for CARES Act funds. The application form can be viewed here: https://tinyurl.com/y9s7xesq

The two forums are open to community based social service providers and agencies, healthcare entities, educational entities and other relevant agencies and members of the public.
