Construction Leads to Lane Closures on U.S 1in Bensalem & Middletown

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced Thursday that construction is scheduled next week on U.S. 1 under a project to reconstruct, widen and improve U.S. 1 in Bensalem and Middletown townships.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:
- Monday, June 19, from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning, a single lane closure with intermittent traffic stoppages is planned on northbound U.S.1 between the Street Road (Route 132) and Penndel/Business U.S. 1 interchanges for paving and a traffic pattern change moving northbound and southbound vehicles onto the newly reconstructed northbound bridge over Rockhill Drive at the Neshaminy Exit.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas. All scheduled activities are weather dependent and subject to change.
Following the traffic shift, crews will replace the stop sign at the end of the ramp from the PA Turnpike to northbound U.S. 1 with a yield sign and demolition and reconstruction will begin on the southbound bridge carrying U.S. 1 over Rockhill Drive.
PennDOT is reconstructing and widening U.S. 1, improving the interchanges, and constructing new bridges from the Turnpike Interchange in Bensalem Township to north of the Penndel/Business U.S. 1 in Middletown Township under the $113.5 million Section RC2 contract.
