A Ewing, New Jersey man and his passenger must be thanking his luck, divine intervention, and or the fact he was wearing his seatbelt after he fell asleep at the wheel on I-295 in Lower Makefield  Township last week in an early morning crash.

State Police say the one-vehicle crash occurred on June 30 just before 4 a.m. in the area of mile marker 9.7. The driver, Sean Whittaker, fell asleep at the wheel, crossed lanes of travel from the “speed lane” across and on to the left shoulder, struck a concrete barrier, rolled onto its right side and came to a stop still on its side facing southeast.

Whittaker and his passenger were pulled from the wreck and suffered no reportable injuries, state police said.

Whittaker was cited for a driving related summary offenses and must truly be  grateful for whatever forces kept him and his passenger alive and unharmed.
