PennDOT: Night Construction for ITS Components on 3 Interstates

PennDOT announced construction activities will occur at night next week to install Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) components on three interstates across the Philadelphia region.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:

  • Sunday, September 15, through Wednesday, September 18, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, a lane closure will be in place on eastbound Interstate 76 (Schuylkill Expressway) between Girard Avenue (Exit 342) and Spring Garden Street (Exit 343) in Philadelphia.
  • Sunday, September 15, through Wednesday, September 18, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, alternating left and right lane closures will be in place at locations on southbound I-95 between Bristol (Exit 39) in Bucks County and Columbus Boulevard (Exit 20) in Philadelphia.
  • Sunday, September 15, through Wednesday, September 18, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, alternating left and right lane closures will be in place at locations on northbound I-95 between Woodhaven Road (Exit 35) in Bucks County and Columbus Boulevard (Exit 20) in Philadelphia.
  • Sunday, September 15, through Wednesday, September 18, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, a lane closure will be in place at locations on eastbound and westbound I-676 between I-95 and I-76 in Philadelphia.
  • Sunday, September 15, through Wednesday, September 18, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, a lane closure will be in place at locations on westbound I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) between Grays Ferry Avenue (Exit 346) in Philadelphia and King of Prussia (Exit 329) in Montgomery County.
  • Monday, September 16, through Thursday, September 19, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, a lane closure will be in place on northbound I-9 5 between I-476 (Exit 7) and Ridley Park (Exit 8) in Delaware County.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time for travel through the work areas. The schedule is weather dependent.

The work is being done under a $24.1 million contract to install ITS components to assist PennDOT’s Traffic Management Center in monitoring conditions on regional highways.
