PennDOT announced the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission is planning bridge construction on Newportville Road in Bristol and Bensalem townships beginning Monday June 30.
The project was originally announced last fall as a gentle advisory to motorists frequenting the road way as new drainage systems for Newportville Rd with the mainline stormwater management on the Turnpike and the new bridge structure were to be installed. Two new access roads for the Turnpike were constructed within the work zone in this area also, officials said.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:
- Monday, June 30, through Thursday, July 31, Newportville Road will be closed and detoured 24/7 between Zimmerman Lane and New Falls Road. During the closure, motorists will be directed to use Zimmerman Lane and New Falls Road.
Local access will be maintained. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
