National Voter Registration Day Reminds All to be Registered for November’s General Election

Today is National Voter Registration Day and people around the country will be reminding unregistered citizens to register for the General Election in November.

Just as everyone is reminded to vote when elections are held, organizations remind the country also to register so each person’s voice is heard. Registration can be handled any day but there is one day in September set aside to get people to register or make sure their registration is updated if any changes, for example, you moved and have a new address.

National Voter Registration Day is a nonpartisan civic holiday dedicated to celebrating our democracy, since its kickoff in 2012. More than 5 million voters across all 50 states have registered to vote on National Voter Registration Day, including 1.5 million in 2020 alone.

The General Election is November 5th and everyone is encouraged to ensure they are registered to vote for this election.  Voters will have the opportunity to elect several federal officials, including the next president and vice president. According to state officials, the deadline to register is October 21.

If you are not already registered to vote, you can register in person at your county elections office, by mail or by registering online here.
