PennDOT Reopens Rt. 232 – 2nd St.- Pike Ahead of Schedule Following Bridge Repair in Northampton Twp

PennDOT announced today that the bridge carrying Route 232 (Second Street Pike) over a branch of Neshaminy Creek in Northampton Township, has been reopened ahead of schedule following repair.

The bridge has been closed since Tuesday, January 6.

The bridge carrying Route 232 (Second Street Pike) over a branch of Neshaminy Creek was undermined and the foundation was compromised.  A concrete invert slab was constructed to stabilize the foundation and necessary repairs to the masonry structure were made.

The single span, one-lane, Route 232 (Second Street Pike) bridge over a branch of Neshaminy Creek was built in 1936. The bridge is 14 feet long, 25 feet wide and carries almost 6,000 vehicles per day.
