PennDOT:Paving, Bridge Repair Planned on I-76 -Schuylkill Expressway in Philly

PennDOT announced paving and roadway repair operations will occur at night on I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) in Philadelphia under a $37.9 million project to resurface and repair nearly five miles of the interstate, the associated on-and-off ramps, and more than 20 bridges.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:

  • Monday, November 11, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., the following morning, the ramp from Girard Avenue to eastbound I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) will be closed and detoured for paving. Motorists will be directed to follow the posted detour route.
  • Monday, November 11, through Thursday, November 14, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., the following morning, a lane closure will be in place on sections of eastbound and westbound I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) between the U.S. 1 and 30th Street Station interchanges for paving and bridge deck repair.
  • Tuesday, November 12, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., the following morning, the ramp from eastbound I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) to Girard Avenue will be closed and detoured for paving. Motorists will be directed to follow the posted detour route.
  • Friday, November 15, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., the following morning, the ramp from westbound I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) to University Avenue will be closed and detoured for paving. Motorists will be directed to follow the posted detour route.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near or through the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
