PennDOT announced additional prep work on Wednesday June 4, will close southbound I-95 lanes for the new concrete covering under the $329 million I-95 CAP project.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:
- Wednesday, June 4, from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., the following morning, southbound I-95, and the ramp from eastbound I-676 to southbound I-95 will close between I-676 and the on-ramp from Columbus Boulevard at E. Morris Street/Water Street for prep work and equipment mobilization.
- Sundays through Thursdays, from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., the following morning, beginning Sunday, June 8, through approximately Friday morning, July 18 – excluding the Independence Day weekend — southbound I-95 will close along with the ramp from eastbound I-676 and the inside/left lane on northbound I-95 between Spruce Street and Market Street.
During the closures, motorists heading south on I-95 will be directed to use the I-676 Interchange, turn left onto Callowhill Street, and turn right onto Columbus Boulevard to access the ramp to southbound I-95 at E. Morris Street/Water Street.
Motorists travelling east on I-676 heading for southbound I-95 will be directed to exit at 6th Street, turn left onto Race Street, and turn right onto southbound Columbus Boulevard to access southbound I-95 at E. Morris Street/Water Street.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because significant backups and delays may occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
