PennDOT announced a traffic shift is planned on Monday night on U.S. 1 under a $116 million project to reconstruct, widen, and improve a three-mile section of U.S. 1 in Bensalem and Middletown townships.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:
- Monday, May 12, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning, lane closures will be in place on U.S. 1 in both directions between Rockhill Drive and Fairhill Avenue.
- Thursday, May 15, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, lane closures will be in place on Rockhill Drive in both directions between Overlook Boulevard and Neshaminy Boulevard.
The traffic shift will move northbound and southbound U.S. 1 traffic to the northbound side through the work area to allow crews to reconstruct the roadway at the crossovers that have been used during construction. The new pattern is expected to remain in place until approximately mid-June.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
