The Bucks County Commissioners approved the sale of county owned property back to its original owners at their last meeting for $70,000 less settlement costs, officials said at the commissioners meeting in December.

Director of Operations, Kevin Spencer said the sale was for property originally owned by the eateries owners but was deeded to PennDOT in the 70’s when Bristol Pike (Rt 13) had work done on it.

Essentially the property has been in County ownership since the development of Silver Lake park, Spencer said.

“When Route 13 was constructed in the 70s PennDOT had taken a portion of the County property as Right of Way for the old jughandle that circled around the diner.  At some point the Diner started leasing the area where their parking lot is from PennDOT who had the Right of Way for Route 13” Spencer said.

Recently with the new improvements that PennDOT completed on busy roadway  the jughandle was removed and the land was deeded back to Bucks County, Spencer said.

“The County then entered into an agreement to sell the land where the existing parking lot was located back to the Golden Eagle so they can continue to have their parking” Spencer said.

A lot line adjustment is needed yet to finalize the transaction which will be presented before Bristol Borough Council for approval, officials said at the December meeting
