Falls Plans Culvert Replacement Project, Purchases For Oxford Valley Road Project

The Falls Supervisors on Monday night set the wheels in motion for a long-awaited culvert replacement project, as well as PennDOT upgrades on two roadways, officials said.

Township Engineer Joseph Jones says PennDOT inspections have determined the structure is sound and “we don’t believe the bridge is in any imminent danger of failure,” despite the long-awaited replacement.

Jones expects construction to begin in March 2025. By soliciting bids now, the township will have ample time to incorporate an accurate project cost into its spending plan next year. Furthermore, he said, the township is seeking grants to fund the project.

As part of other business, the board approved two items related to PennDOT construction in Falls. On the easterly side of Bristol-Oxford Valley Road, PennDOT offered the township $71,000 to acquire the right-of-way necessary to complete ongoing road improvements near Wawa. The project requires a 2,292-square-foot sidewalk easement and a temporary construction easement, according to township attorney Lauren Gallagher. PennDOT was also authorized to access Levittown Parkway and Sexton and Spur lanes as part of a construction project.
