State Rep. Perry Warren and state Sen. Steve Santarsiero welcomed Council Rock High School North senior Eren Sement to the Pennsylvania Capitol on Tuesday to recognize his historic victory at the 2025 PIAA Wrestling Championships.

This past March, Sement captured the 145-pound state title at the Giant Center in Hershey with a thrilling 1-0 win over Dalton Perry of Central Mountain. With this victory, he became only the second wrestler from Council Rock North to earn a state championship since the school district’s split in 2002–03. His gold-medal finish capped off an extraordinary high school career, after placing third in the state for three consecutive years.

Sement was joined at the Capitol by his parents, sister, and Council Rock North wrestling coach Mike Diglia, who brought along two of his children to help celebrate the occasion.

“Eren’s determination, perseverance, and sportsmanship are a model for young athletes across our community and our commonwealth,” Warren said. “Winning a state championship is a rare and exceptional accomplishment, and doing so in such a competitive weight class makes it even more impressive. We’re incredibly proud to recognize Eren’s achievement at the state Capitol.”

Sement will continue his academic and athletic career at the University of Michigan this fall.

“Eren is an exceptional athlete and young man who has done his school and community proud,” Santarsiero said. “I have no doubt he will achieve great success in both his wrestling and academic careers at the University of Michigan.”
