Pedestrian Bridge Replacement Scheduled on Centre Avenue in Newtown

PennDOT announced that pedestrian bridge replacement is scheduled on the bridge carrying Centre Avenue over Newtown Creek in Newtown Township and Newtown Borough.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:

Local access will be maintained. Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Masonry repair was previously performed on the bridge this fall following a vehicle bridge strike. Built in 1796, the Centre Avenue bridge over Newtown Creek carries approximately 4,254 vehicles, on a daily basis.
