PennDOT: Bridge Masonry Repair Scheduled on Centre Avenue in Newtown Twp & Borough

PennDOT announced bridge masonry repair is scheduled on the bridge carrying Centre Avenue over Newtown Creek in Newtown Township and Newtown Borough in about two weeks.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:

  • Wednesday, November 13, through Wednesday, November 27, Centre Avenue will be closed 24/7 between Sycamore Street and State Street. During the closure, motorists are directed to use Sycamore Street, Washing Avenue, and State Street.

Local access will be maintained. Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Built in 1796, the Centre Avenue bridge over Newtown Creek carries approximately 4,254 vehicles, daily.
