PennDOT announced concrete barrier removal between the southbound lanes at the I-95 Betsy Ross Bridge Interchange is planned at night under a $355.3 million project to reconstruct and improve northbound I-95 between Wheatsheaf Lane and Margaret Street, replace three bridges, and rehabilitate two ramps at interchange in Northeast Philadelphia.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:

Motorists entering southbound I-95 from the ramp from Aramingo Avenue near Margaret Street will be directed to exit at the Betsy Ross Bridge Interchange, turn right onto Aramingo Avenue, and right onto Adams Avenue to access the ramp to southbound I-95.

Motorists on mainline southbound I-95 heading to Aramingo Avenue or to New Jersey via the bridge will continue to have access to those ramps.

The barrier removal is part of the continuing work to establish a temporary work zone for reconstruction of the northbound side of I-95 beginning this fall. The temporary traffic pattern will shift six lanes of southbound and northbound vehicles to the west side and middle of the interstate. In preparation for the shift, the southbound shoulder is being repaved and the existing median separating northbound and southbound traffic will be removed and paved this summer.
