PennDOT announced bridge inspections are scheduled next week on Interstate 95 Girard Point Bridge and the George C. Platt Bridge (Route 291) in Philadelphia.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:
- Tuesday, August 27, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., a right lane closure is scheduled on the eastbound deck of the George C. Platt Bridge (Route 291) between Island Avenue and South 26th Street.
- Tuesday, August 27, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., a right lane closure is scheduled on the westbound deck of the George C. Platt Bridge (Route 291) between South 26th Street and Island Avenue.
- Wednesday, August 28, and Thursday, August 29, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., alternating lane closures are scheduled on the northbound deck of the I-95 Girard Point Bridge between the Enterprise Avenue and the Broad Street (Route 611) interchanges.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because slowdowns may occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
The inspections are part of PennDOT’s program to inspect bridges at least once every two years. The inspections ensure the safety and overall condition of the structures.
