The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced Wednesday that pavement repair will occur at night next week and continuously over the next three weekends on southbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway).
Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:
Monday, April 22, and Tuesday, April 23, from 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. the following morning, the southbound U.S. 1 ramp to westbound I-76 will be closed. Traffic will be detoured east on I-76 to Montgomery Drive (Exit 341) to access the ramp to I-76 west.
Monday, April 22, through Friday, April 26, from 6:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. the following morning, a periodic single lane closure will be in place on southbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) between Fox Street and Interstate 76.
Friday, April 26, through Monday, May 13, a single lane closure with a periodic double lane closure will be in place continuously from 6:00 p.m. Fridays to 5:30 a.m. Mondays on southbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) between Fox Street and I-76.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
The lane closures are needed so PennDOT’s contractor can repair the southbound lanes and place an epoxy overlay to extend the life of the southbound pavement between the Wayne Avenue Viaduct and I-76.
