Neshaminy School Board Director, Kristin Egan, announced that she is challenging Republican incumbent, Joe Hogan, for state representative in Pennsylvania’s 142nd House District, naming cost of living, increasing funding for public schools, and public safety as the core of her campaign’s message.
The 142nd House District covers Langhorne Borough, Langhorne Manor Borough, Penndel Borough, Lower Southampton Township, parts of Middletown and Northampton Townships.
“We must create fair funding models in education that support all of our students,” Egan said, “and Pennsylvania legislators have not properly funded education in decades. The burden has fallen on local residents through incessant school district tax increases. Our seniors on fixed incomes deserve to retire with dignity, and not be taxed out of their homes. Working families are struggling to make ends meet. We must do better in Harrisburg.”
Once elected, Egan will fight for common sense policies that address the rising costs of living. She will focus on strengthening our local economy, expanding educational opportunities, increasing access to affordable housing, and fixing Pennsylvania’s broken school funding formula to ease the tax burden on residents.
“I am running for state representative because I am focused on this district’s future,” Egan said. “As a parent, teacher, and small business owner, I have made it my life’s work to build a brighter future for my community. It’s time to take action against the failed policies that drive up costs for our residents. I am stepping up to deliver real solutions for our community.”
Hogan won the seat in 2022 beating former Middletown Township Supervisor Anna Payne in a very competitive race. He announced his reelection effort last week.
Egan currently serves as a Neshaminy School Board Director. She received her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from Holy Family University and is a 1999 graduate of Conwell Egan Catholic. She is a lifelong resident of Lower Bucks County, where she lives with her husband and school-age daughters.
Egan has served the community as a public school teacher for over twenty years and holds several leadership roles including Union Officer, Curriculum Coordinator, Board Member of an Education Foundation, and was a former elected Chief Negotiator, former Title I Coordinator, and former Mock Trial Coach among other things. Her husband owns and operates a local HVAC company which is a part of the Sheet Metal Workers Local #19.
