PennDOT announced construction is continuing on Interstate 95 at the Bridge Street Interchange ahead of a traffic shift that marks the completion of southbound reconstruction and widening between Carver and Margaret streets in Northeast Philadelphia.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas or along the detour routes because significant backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

The lane and ramp closures will allow crews to place construction barriers and paint new lane markings in preparation for a new traffic pattern that will move three lanes of southbound I-95 traffic approaching Bridge Street onto the newly rebuilt southbound lanes early Friday morning. Northbound traffic will remain on the northbound side of the work area.

Following the shift, work will get underway to prepare the median for a shift in late summer to move northbound traffic to the median area of the interstate for the start of northbound reconstruction and widening.
