Man Who Stole Ambulance Gets 10 to 25 Years in State Prison for “Crime Spree”

The 31 year-old man who stole a rescue squad ambulance from Lower Bucks Hospital, bite and spit on Bristol Township police officers during an arrest, assaulted a corrections officer and committed two thefts in Falls Township, will spend at least the next decade in prison to ponder his life choices.

Cody Lynn-Phipps no known address, on Wednesday, appeared before Common Pleas Judge Gary B. Gilman, who sentenced him to a total of 10 ½ to 25 years in prison followed by 19 years of probation. Additionally, Gilman ordered Lynn-Phipps to undergo a drug and alcohol assessment, a mental health evaluation, anger management courses and have no contact with the victims. He was also ordered to pay restitution for damage caused during his crimes.

Lynn-Phipps stole the emergency services vehicle, Medic 168, Penndel-Middletown Rescue Squad just after 10 pm on March  1 from the  Lower Bucks Hospital, 501 Bath Road, while it parked out front, sources said at the time said.

Prior to stealing the rescue squad vehicle, Police responded to a report of a man laying on the road Kenwood Drive and Kindle Lane.  He told responding officers he was homeless and tired from walking. Lynn-Phipps was then arrested for warrants out of Bucks County Probation. He was then transported to Police Headquarters to be lodged until picked up by Bucks County Sheriffs. He became unresponsive and convulsive police said. He was treated with Narcan, and Penndel-Middletown Rescue Squad, responded, transporting him to the Lower Bucks Hospital Emergency Room for evaluation and treatment. He was able to escape custody, stealing the running ambulance a short time later.

About 90 minutes later with police on the ground and in the air, the ambulance was found in the Croydon section of Bristol Township.

Days later Lynn-Phipps was taken back into custody at the Villager Lodge on Bristol Pike after two residents of motel discovered Lynn-Phipps unconscious in a Nissan Sentra in the hotel parking lot due to an overdose.  They pulled him out of the vehicle and called police. The Nissan Sentra in which he was a vehicle reported stolen from Peruzzi Nissan on Business Route 1

Lynn-Phipps, was also found wearing clothing from another Falls Township business that had been burglarized after he stole the ambulance. Additionally he also stole $350 from Cooper Electric.

In addition to those crimes, Lynn-Phipps was sentenced for assaulting a Bucks County Correctional Facility officer on March 9, 2022, and for biting and spitting on Bristol Township police officers and a Truman High School security guard during an arrest on September 14, 2021.
