Suspended Officer Forced to Serve Suspension Despite Pending Appeal & Reporting

Morrisville Borough Police officer Bradley Smeltzer, suspended by borough officials in December was forced to start serving his suspension one month earlier than announced in spite of exclusive reporting by Lower Bucks Source; the suspension is based upon the noxious and racially incendiary claims of a local woman, friendly with council leadership who alleged she was assaulted by a “black gay man.”

Inside sources told LBS Smeltzer began serving the “10-day rip” last week, despite the 10-year veteran officer and also the union president for the department,  pending appeal coming this summer.

“Officer Smeltzer is or will be serving his 10 day suspension. I am of not sure of the exact dates. However, he is still proceeding with his arbitration appeal. If he wins at arbitration, the Borough will have to pay him back for the 10-day suspension,” Smeltzer’s attorney, Todd Eagen said.

The suspension was spearheaded by council leadership, its been alleged, circumventing Mayor Gary Wallace’s role as direct supervisor of the department and is due in part to a long standing feud involving at least two, if not more, former borough officials somehow connected to Council President Helen Hlahol and Vice President Scott Robinson.

As recounted previously, Jennifer Jaradat was and remains the lightning rod involved Smeltzer’s suspension, multiple sources show. She was outraged by an investigation that she initiated claiming she was assaulted by a gay black man.

The investigation, headed by Smeltzer and assisted by retired Cpl William “Billy” Smith, revealed at minimum Jaradat made up the story or lied because of her animus towards African-Americans in general and those living the same apartment complex. Smeltzer, just over a year ago, filed a criminal complaint charging Jaradart with false reporting which was approved by District Attorney’s office and signed off by Magisterial District Judge Corryn L. Kronnagel on February 26, 2024.

Feb 2024 Probable Cause filed by Officer Bradley Smeltzer charging Jenifer Jaradat with False Reporting to the Police Pg 2

Sources sent the above probable cause to this news organization and said, “Jaradat has a history of making false statements to this department, it is also believed that this is a racially motivated incident.”

Within the computer systems of the Morrisville Borough Police Department there are at least two video clips collected as evidence from witnesses and Jaradat’s cell phone. Since there is no actual active investigation ongoing into Jaradat’s assault claim, Morrisville should release the videos unedited for the community to see. Taxpayers really do want to know what really took place.

Jaradat has, in series of communications, threatened to sue Lower Bucks Source. She has also said she has an attorney representing her. Sources said she even tried to have borough police arrest this reporter based upon the Jan 27, 2025 story. She was told simply that’s not going to happen.

Smeltzer was not given a Loudermill hearing prior to his suspension. Even disgraced former police officer, Michael Pitcher, now a convicted felon, was provided with that opportunity.

This is not the first time, Hlahol and Robinson “have allegedly interfered” with police related business. Multiple administrative and police departmental sources say they continue to do so, all but “emasculating” the Mayor’s supervisory role of the department.
