Updated: Body Found in Creek Confirmed to be Missing Bucks Woman

Update: Lower Southampton Chief of Police, John T. Krimmel, Jr said at a press conference in front of police headquarters that members of his department and the Philadelphia Police Department were in the area of Route 1 and Woodhaven Road searching for Johnston.

During the search a Philadelphia Police Marine Unit located a body matching Johnston’s description in Byberry Creek. He said the Philadelphia Medical Examiner has taken custody of the body.

Krimmel said, the turning point for the investigation is when Missing Person Investigator Kevin Ryan, in a helicopter on Saturday spotted the “silver rooftop” of Johnston’s car in a ravine covered by thick brush.

He went back and looked and saw it was her missing Ford Focus and then called my office and 911 Krimmel said.

The Police Chief also said about the accident that Johnston was heading west bound on Woodhaven Rd. It appears she didn’t negotiate the curve properly and she went down into a culvert, went air born and was ejected from her vehicle through the sunroof.

A body found in Byberry Creek only a short distance from where her vehicle was found, multiple sources with knowledge of the investigations say is Cassandra Johnston.

Multiple sources say the Johnston family was notified about 30 minutes ago about the find.

Johnston’s identity was confirmed by Police through her tattoo’s, sources tell Lower Bucks Source just after 4:30 p.m.

Its been a little more than three weeks since Johnston was first reported missing on July 10th.

Johnston 26, child care worker from Feasterville, was last seen on that July morning,  driving her vehicle on the Vine Street Expressway around 6 a.m.

The Johnston family recently engaged the services of Kevin Ryan a private investigator who specializes in finding missing people who’s working theory has been Johnston was in a car accident that had yet to be located which appears to be the correct assessment.

Philadelphia Police K-9 units searched the area where the vehicle was located and sources tell Lower Bucks Source a helicopter was also part of the grid search once the vehicle was located.

Police and searchers were out early today looking for additional evidence and Johnston.

Philadelphia Police were unavailable for comment as of press time.
