Kamala Harris, as expected, named her running mate Tuesday morning, hours before the Philadelphia rally at Temple University
He is Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.
His career has been defined by public service, from serving our country in the military to serving our students as a high-school teacher and football coach to serving our state in Congress. . After 24 years in the Army National Guard, Command Sergeant Major Walz retired from the 1-125th Field Artillery Battalion in 2005. Tim won his first election to the United States House of Representatives in 2006 and was re-elected for another five terms serving Minnesota’s First Congressional District in Southern Minnesota. Walz signed a $2.3 billion education budget into law – the single-largest investment in public education in state history. He established ironclad reproductive freedom, protections for Trans individuals, and gender-affirming care as fundamental rights in Minnesota. Governor Walz also banned the cruel, outdated practice of “conversion therapy” and ended book bans based on ideology. He has cut taxes with every one of his budgets. Walz has been governor of Minnesota since 2019.
Walz and Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro were said to be the remaining two candidates vying for the v.p. slot on the ticket.
Shapiro on social media said “My work here in Pennsylvania is far from finished — there is a lot more stuff I want to get done for our Commonwealth. Over the next 90 days, I look forward to traveling all across the Commonwealth to unite Pennsylvanians behind my friends Kamala Harris and Tim Walz and defeat Donald Trump.”
