Exclusive: US Marshals Arrest Trenton Man On Fugitive Warrant in Bristol

Members of the U.S Marshals Fugitive Task Force arrested a Trenton man wanted on a fugitive from justice warrant early Tuesday morning in Bristol Borough.

Joshus Chavis, 21 of New Jersey was captured by the service, along with support from New Jersey State and Bristol Borough Police at a home on the 300 block of Lafayette Street earlier today.

Chavis  was video arraigned Judge Frank W. Peranteau Sr. in Bristol Borough District Court on the warrant.

Supervisory Deputy of the US Marshals Service Robert Coark said a warrant was issued for Chavis’ arrest in November and the case was delegated to US Marshals –Trenton Division.

Information was developed the wanted man was staying with a known family member on Lafayette Street and a search warrant was executed at 6:45 am this morning, Coark said.

Chavis was indicted in January on  second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, third-degree unlawful possession of a firearm without a serial number, fourth-degree possession of hollow nose ammunition, fourth-degree unlawful possession of large-capacity ammunition magazines, and various first-, second-, third- and fourth-degree weapons charges, according the state Attorney Generals office and court records.

Then acting Attorney General Andrew J. Bruck,  said Chavis was taken into custody was with 13 others in October of 2021 by the Crime Suppression Unit and Opioid Enforcement Task Force along with officers the Trenton Police Department and Hamilton Police Department on what authorities described as a “party bus” for gun related offenses.

Chavis was turned over to authorities from the New Jersey after he was processed in Bristol. .

Coark confirmed Chavis’ arrest is connected to the “party bus” case.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident, authorities said.
