Last week police officers, family and friends gathered to to celebrate the memory of Bensalem Detective with a Memorial Run.
Detective Kevin Cornish a 17 year police officer veteran died suddenly on January 31, 2015 while participating in a 19154 5k run and his contributions as to the community were remembered and honored with a 5K run last Friday/.
All of the proceeds from the run will be donated to the 19154 St. Anselm’s Parish Youth Organization.
Cornish worked in Special Victims Unit and was also a member of the SWAT team. He was honored as the township officer of the year, by the Bensalem Rotary Club in 2015 and spearheaded, at the time, a fundraising effort for two girls removed from an abusive home.
Officials for the run said there was a great showing and they look forward to even more people coming out next year to participate and raise money for the cause in Cornish’s name.
Reports at the time of his death that despite exhaustive efforts from nurses and police officers on-scene as well as paramedics and hospital staff, Cornish passed
“He is sorely missed by his family, friends and co-workers but his legacy lives on through this annual event” official of the run said.
