Bristol Man Gets into Family Argument, Steals Van, Jailed

A Bristol man with a lengthy arrest history apparently got angry at his parents during a visit to their home and to make himself feel better, according to police, stole a van from a local auto dealer and now finds himself facing a felony theft charge and related offenses.

Steven Weimar, Jr., 34 of Bristol, was arraigned and jailed earlier this month accused of stealing a van from Auto Nation of Pennsylvania on the 7000 block of Bristol Pike in Levittown.

Bristol Twp Police were called to the location on Dec. 13 before midnight to meet with the complainant and owner in reference to one of his vans that was for sale being stolen from the lot overnight.

According to court records, while waiting for the complainant to arrive, responding police walked around the lot and the building, finding the east side window of the building broken. The business owner arrived shortly thereafter. He told the responding officers he received a call that his van was at the Comfort Inn, 2779 Old Lincoln Highway in Bensalem Township. He reported that he already contacted Bensalem’s police department and they were responding to the motel to see if the vehicle was on scene. The victim gave police the van’s VIN which was verified with Bensalem authorities.

Weimar was taken into custody for the alleged stolen van by police who shortly thereafter received a call from his father reporting his son, Steven, stole the van, police wrote in court papers.

While in their custody Bensalem Police interviewed Weimar with their body camera(s) activation recording. He was read his Miranda Rights and admitted to breaking the window at the dealership with a piece of wood, stealing three key fobs and taking a 2019 white Dodge Ram ProMaster van since it was the easiest vehicle to steal.

Weimar told police he left his parents’ home on the 700 block of Wood Street in Bristol Borough following an argument with his parents.

Weimar admitted to driving the van back to the Comfort Inn in Bensalem Township, police said in court records. He was remanded to the custody of Bucks County Correctional Facility in lieu of 10 percent of $70,000.00 bail and according to court records is represented by Bucks County Public Defender’s Office with a Jan. 2 court date scheduled in Bensalem.
