Cops: Night Prowling Thief Captured in Bensalem

Bensalem police arrested a man they believe responsible for a string thefts from vehicles in the township. 

David Cleary Jr, 30, of Philadelphia was charged with 39 misdemeanors for theft, receiving stolen property and prowling after admitting to police he is the suspect captured on video surveillance released in late February

Police say they recognized a man fitting the suspects description- a white male, gray sweatshirt, with dark stripes on the shoulders, a gray and or olive green winter jacket walking in the area. 

Authorities stopped the suspect and found him to be in possession of $100 in change, gift cards, a SEPTA travel pass, and additional similar items reported stolen by vehicle owners. 

Cleary admitted to police he is the person captured on video from February 27 when a number of vehicles were broken into and stolen from in Bensalem. 

Cleary was jailed on 10 percent of $75,000 bail and is currently scheduled for a preliminary hearing on March 18 at 1 p.m in front of Justice Joseph P. Falcone.
