Bucks County will remember fallen firefighters past and present with a memorial service that will be especially poignant for some as a Newtown EMS member who passed away last year will honored during the solemn services this Sunday in Doylestown.
Thomas J Evans died in the line of duty last year on Oct 16, after returning home from a call. Because he died within 24 hours of his last call, his death is considered in the line of duty, squad officials said.
According to his obituary, Evans career as a paramedic spanned more than three decades and numerous EMS squads. He was also an EMS Educator. He was a fulltime medic with Newtown EMS, part-time medic with Warrington Community Ambulance Corps. and is a life-member of the Nottingham Fire Department in Bensalem Township. Evans was loved and admired by his many peers. They have described him as an outstanding person and the definition of a true gentleman.
Ceremonies will be held in the Memorial Courtyard beginning at 10 a.m.
