A 17 year-old girl visiting family at a Bensalem Apartment Complex drowned and died Bensalem Police confirmed late Wednesday night and her family says the victim could have been saved.

The accident occurred at the Franklin Commons Apartment Homes complex located on 1400 Cardinal Drive last Sunday, Police said.

Sergeant Glenn Vandergrift said the name of the victim would not be released by Police.

The death came to the attention of Lower Bucks Source early Wednesday evening when a reader sent the publication links to a blog post and Go Fund Me page, identifying the victim, as Kaylee Alston of Philadelphia.

Initiated by Antionette Wright the fundraiser post says “On June 26th my family and I lost our baby Kaylee Alston due to drowning.”

Wright says the drowning should have never happened.

“When we realized she was missing we begged the lifeguards to search the pool and they just brushed us off and closed up the pool at closing time.  Once the lifeguard finally realized we weren’t going to leave without him searching the pool he jumped in and immediately found her body at the bottom of the deep end, but it was too late.”

Vandegrift, said the “accidental drowning” occurred Sunday evening.

“Police were called at 8:29 pm for the report of a missing 17 year -old female juvenile. While en-route, the call was updated that CPR was in progress on the juvenile after she was pulled from the pool. Bensalem Police and EMS personnel attempted life saving measures and transported her to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital where she was pronounced.”

Lifeguards were on duty at the time, Police said,  but due to the cloudiness of the pool, they were unable to see the bottom of the deep end. After searching the grounds, a lifeguard dove into the deep end, discovered the juvenile and pulled her from the pool.

Attempts to reach Wright late Wednesday night were unsuccessful but she did say the fundraiser would help the family pay for funeral costs and expenses.

“I’m starting this fundraiser to try and help my family out with the funeral expenses and to get Kaylee’s baby siblings any help they may need to cope with this loss.  Any little bit helps and will be appreciated to help us honor or angel, Kaylee.”

To date fundraiser has garnered $100 as of Thursday morning.

I feel extremely bad about what happened to Kaylee. My girlfriend has a learning difference and wanted to express her condolences to Kaylee’s family. I asked her to not and then the whole family threatened her and myself. They made death threats and the next day one family member keyed my car with a 3’ scratch. They were driving a Chrysler town and country with the license plate kmh4730. I feel bad for her drowning but to attack the residents that live in Franklin commons and then to damage their property is unacceptable. A peaceful protest this was not and their family needs to be evicted and barred from ever setting foot on this property. This isn’t a racial thing which they tried to make it out to be. This is a we shouldn’t have gun violence threatened against us thing

I feel bad for the family for what happened and their peaceful protest turned extremely violent when they formed a mob on Saturday and came after my girlfriend and I and threatened bring a 9mm to our peaceful community. She only wanted to express her condolences and this aggressive family threatened gun violence. And then a black Chrysler town and country with the plate kmh-4730 stopped in front of my vehicle and keyed a 3 foot scratch into it on Sunday
