On Saturday August 5, 2023 at approximately 1950 hours, Bensalem Police responded to the area of 1681 Neshaminy Valley Drive for a report of a struck pedestrian. A 64 year old Bensalem resident was struck by an illegal dirt bike who then fled the area with another illegal dirt bike rider.
A Press release was circulated to the media including photographs of the two dirt bike riders. The victim was transported to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital where he was treated for a fracture of the left clavicle, multiple broken ribs, right orbital fracture and a fracture to his tibia/fibula which required surgery.
On Wednesday, August 9, 2023, the operator of the illegal dirt bike, Barlow, came to Bensalem Police HQ with his attorney and provided a statement to police as Bensalem Police Detectives continued their investigation into the incident.
On Monday, September 11, 2023, Barlow turned himself in with his attorney at the Bensalem Township Police Department on felony and misdemeanor charges including Accidents Involving Death or Personal Injury and Accidents Involving Death or Personal Injury while not Properly Licensed. Barlow was also charged with several summary offenses for operating an illegal dirt bike within Bensalem Township.
Barlow was arraigned by District Justice Brian Marriott and released on his own recognizance. The second dirt bike rider was also cited with several summary traffic offenses for operating an illegal dirt bike within Bensalem Township. The Bensalem Township Police will continue to have zero tolerance for the operation of illegal dirt bikes on our roadways.
