New Jersey Woman Accused of Killing 3 in Wrong Way Bensalem I-95 Crash to Face Trial
The Camden, New Jersey woman who allegedly killed three people in an early morning wrong way driving accident on I-95 in April is heading to trial .
Priscilla Cortez, 34, appeared via video before District Justice Michael Gallagher to waive her preliminary hearing on Monday
She is charged with three counts of homicide by vehicle, three counts of homicide by vehicle while DUI and related offenses.
Prosecutors added added three additional DUI charges to the case, according to online court records including one DUI controlled substance offense.
She is accused of killing three Lower Bucks County residents on April 1 I-95 in the crash that occurred shortly after 1:30 a.m. as she was driving her Toyota southbound in the northbound lane in the area of mile marker 33, according to court documents.
State Police identified the victims as Ryan Connell, 28, Leanne Popson 35, both from the Levittown area and Lucas Gelatko, 36 of Yardley.
Cortez told police she had a lot to drink before the head on collision, court records show, was taken to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital for treatment of her injuries consented to a blood draw after admitting she had been drinking that night, according to the criminal complaint
Police allege Cortez’s eyes were bloodshot with the odor of alcohol emanating from her.
Cortez remains in Bucks County Prison in lieu of 10 % of $375,000. She is schedule to appear at the Bucks County Court of Common Pleas for formal arraignment on August 7
