12-Year-Old Struck on Rt.13 Dies, Bristol Community Mourns

A 12-year-old child out riding his bike on Saturday evening was struck by a pickup truck on Rt 13 and Beaver Dam Road later died, Bristol Township Police said, as a community is now in mourning.

Bristol area first responders were dispatched just before 8:45 p.m. last night to the intersection for a reported accident involving a juvenile on a bicycle and a red Dodge Pickup truck.

Shortly after the dispatch went out, Lower Bucks Source was made aware the accident involved “a little boy.”

According to police, the pickup was traveling south on Rt 13 while the 12-year-old boy, now identified through social posts from family as Josiah Grant, was heading west crossing over Rt 13 onto Beaver Dam Road when they collided.

Commenters on the Lower Bucks Source Meta page said they saw first responders rushing to the boy’s aid.

He was taken to Jefferson Torresdale for emergency medical treatment, Sgt Jason Mancuso said.

The pickup operator remained on scene, police said, fully cooperating with the investigation.

Meanwhile, news of the accident ripped through the Bristol area community as prayer hand emojis for Grant were posted throughout the overnight and early morning hours.

The Bucks County Rescue Squad transported Grant to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries, Mancuso said.

As night turned into day, Wendy Sommers on behalf of Josiah’s family posted a fundraising effort to help with costs for services and expenses on AngeLink.

“We hope you will join us in sending love and healing to Josiah’s mother, Natalie Grant, Josiah’s father, Jason Cedeno, and the rest of his family during this heartbreaking time no parent or family should ever have to experience,” Sommers wrote.

As of 6:15 pm Sunday, there were approximately 120 donations made, raising just under $8,500.00 of the $10,000 the fundraiser is seeking to achieve.

Information on funeral services was not available as of publication time.

Anyone having any information regarding last night’s accident is asked to please contact Officer Andrew Stuart 267- 812-3013 or at his e mail Astuart183@bristolpd.org

Our thoughts are with the Grant and Cedeno families during this moment of grief and loss.
