2 Ford Trucks Stolen, Catalytic Converters “Sawed Off”, Bristol Police Say

Vehicle owners be aware, thieves stole two Ford pickup trucks in Bristol Borough having their catalytic converters sawed off.
Bristol Police say the two trucks were stolen in the early morning hours of Wednesday; one from Corson Street and the second from Jefferson Avenue, only to later found within in the borough boundaries to found with their air pollutant reducers removed.
Police released the image of a vehicle they say is connected to the thefts; a 2005 to 2010 dark colored Lincoln.
Anyone with information on the Lincoln pictured is asked to contact Officer Levitsky at 788-7813 ext 2443.
Auto Insurance experts say thieves target the converters because they can be easily flipped for cash at scrap yards because of the precious metals they contain and the soaring prices for those elements.
The New York Times on Tuesday released a report indicating catalytic converter thefts have increased fourfold in many areas.
