3rd Floor Mattress Fire Under Investigation in Bristol

A fire on the third floor in a Bristol Borough home is now under investigation.
Bristol Borough Fire Companies along with Third District and Croydon fire companies were dispatched to the 500 block of Bath Street for a dwelling fire on the third floor just before 1:45 pm, Tuesday afternoon.
Bristol Borough Fire Chief Herb Slack said firefighters faced some challenges before getting to, and containing the fire to the third floor.

“Arriving firefighters had difficulty accessing a bedroom on the third floor because of the amount of materials in the room partially blocking the door opening” he said.
Firefighters were seen entering the home from a ladders placed in the backyard to make entry on to the third floor,
“The fire was confined to a mattress in the third-floor bedroom” Slack said
Borough Code officials deemed the home to be uninhabitable. No injuries were reported, public safety officials said.
Cause of the fire is under investigation, Slack said.
Additional companies were called to supplement the manpower including Edgely and Newport Fire Companies, officials said
