Bristol Fire Fighter Brings Joy to Borough Child

There are times when a fire call turns out to be something completely different than originally thought.

On Friday afternoon, Bristol Fire crews and the Croydon Fire Company responded to a 911 call on the 600 block of Spruce Street. Within minutes, the reason for the call was addressed by first responders – a smoky oil burner.

The quick response allowed one local fire fighter, Jerome Mead, to bring joy in the form of a stuffed animal to a Bristol child

Kayden Doughterty, age 5, was thrilled to see the fire trucks and fire fighters on his block.

A Bristol Fire Company volunteer recognized the significance to the lil guy, went to his truck and produced a firefighting stuffed animal for Kayden, lighting up his soul and face with a grin, we’re sure still remains.

Kayden’s mom said, when we lived in Levittown, we were at the firehouse daily. He wants to be a fireman, he just loves everything about the fire companies.

Kayden showed off his new stuffed animal to family members and friends, while the fire companies cleared out and  turning the 911 call into a special experience for one little boy in Bristol Borough.

Editors Note: The above story was updated Sunday morning to reflect Jerome Mead is volunteer fire fighter with the Bristol Fire Company – Station 51
