A Bristol man is behind bars at Bucks County Correctional Facility after he allegedly struck the victim in the head with a 10 pound weight three to four times sending him to the hospital with head trauma related injuries on Sunday.
Sgt. Pete Faight was dispatched to the 1900 block of Wilson Avenue for an aggravated assault report by a suspect known to the victim as 30-year-old Craig J. Reiss on Sunday Feb 9.
The victim was transported to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital as police arrived with Reiss fleeing the area, police said.
Reiss struck the victim in the head with a ten-pound iron weight, they were told by the victim’s wife, and then ran back into the basement, where his bed is located, barricaded the door with a metal pole, the probable cause alleges, and fled to the rear of the house with another male who lives there chasing him with a baseball bat.
Reiss fled north over the railroad tracks at the end of the street into the Delaware Canal Park area, police said in court papers.
Police checked the area with Faight setting up a perimeter. After the perimeter was set up, Faight and Ofc. Jackson of Bristol Township Police entered the basement through the kitchen door to find no one in the basement.

90 minutes later a call came into Bristol Twp. Police for Levittown Trace apartments where Reiss was now at his grandmother’s apartment. Borough Police cleared the area as Bristol Twp Police converged on the apartment complex never finding the suspect, By shift change, at 6 p.m., the information was passed onto the next shift.
Bristol Township Police again received a call at Reiss’ grandmother’s apartment discovering the suspect Reiss was lying in front of the apt door. Reiss was taken into custody and transported to Bristol Borough Police Headquarters where he was held for aggravated assault. The victim sustained laceration to his head from the iron weight and a concussion. Both the victim and the victim’s wife identified the defendant as the suspect in the assault, police wrote in the probable cause.
Magisterial District Judge Daniel Baranoski arraigned Reiss on two counts of felony aggravated assault, misdemeanors of possession of an instrument of crime, simple assault, and reckless endangerment with bail set at 10 percent of $100,000 which he was unable to post. He was remanded to the custody of Bucks County Correctional Facility with a court date scheduled for February 19 to answer to said charges.
