Croydon Man Charged for Theft & Harassing Calls

A Bristol Township man has been charged for stealing a refrigerator from a person who died recently and making harassing anonymous phone calls to the victims of the crime, police say

Bradley Smith, 33 of Croydon was jailed last week for theft, receiving stolen property, and two harassment counts for repeatedly making anonymous calls to the victims home at all hours of the night.

Falls Township Police  were dispatched to the 500 block of Austin Drive for the theft report last week  month for a theft report and met with the victim

She told Falls authorities her father in law recently died and she and her husband were cleaning out the Austin Dr home and placing an ice box in the back of the property to either keep or sell, according to court documents.

During the last week of May, the victims told police, Smith contacted the couple through a online messenger application, sending a picture of refrigerator. Shortly thereafter the couple checked the deceased’s property and the fridge was missing, the criminal complaint says.

Smith, police say, in a subsequent contact admitted to taking the item from the property but said he was given permission to do so by a third female family member.

That family member denied Smith’s claim telling police she did not give him permission to remove the refrigerator valued at $200 from the property, court records show.

Police also alleged in court records that the victim said Smith had been made numerous calls to his professional phone number at all hours of the night having to leave the phone off the hook to prevent disturbing him and his family.

Smith currently has three additional cases open at the Court of Common Pleas for similar offenses with trial dates set during first full week of August.

Smith was remanded to Bucks County Correctional on 10 % of $25,000 where he remains according to online court documents awaiting his day in court.
