A male bicyclist was struck and killed in a hit and run crash early Sunday while it was pouring rain, Bristol Borough Police say, on Rt 13.
According to police, officers were dispatched to the 230 block of Bristol Pike at around 12:20 am Sunday for the report of an alarm sounding. When officers arrived on scene, they discovered an unidentified male lying in the parking area of Metro PCS dead and a crumpled bicycle.
The bicycle, after being struck by an unidentified vehicle, slammed into one of the businesses in the small shopping strip triggering an alarm, police said.

The motorist fled after striking the bicyclist, Chief of Police Joe Moors said, within 90 minutes though, the “damaged” vehicle was discovered in Tullytown Borough.
Rt. 13 was closed down in both directions between Commerce Circle and Beaver Dam Road, for about two hours, and then the southbound lane was reopened while the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office Crash Reconstruction team continued their investigation on the northbound side.
Moors said investigators cleared the scene just before sunrise. He said the Coroner’s office expects to have a cause and manner of death after they complete an autopsy, most likely Monday or Tuesday. He declined to confirm or deny if police have a motorist of interest in the crash, nor did he release any information on the make or model of the striking vehicle or the identity of the bicyclist struck.
Moors did say he should have more information on the investigation to release later this week. He declined to comment on whether or not PennDOT cameras on Rt 13 captured the crash or striking vehicle.
This was the second vehicle vs bicycle crash in the last two weeks in Bristol Borough. A bicyclist sustained non-life threatening injuries on May 13 at around 9 pm, police said, at the intersection of Rt 13. and Bath St when he was struck by an SUV.
