A well known and established public safety alert system will go live in Bristol Borough in the very near future.
In August Borough Council approved a three-year deal for the public safety Nixle alert system to be implemented per the recommendations of police, fire, and emergency management officials.

Council President Ralph DiGuiseppe said Borough public safety officials met in during the summer to discuss implementation of the alert notification system and were all in support of signing up for it.
Borough residents will be able to sign up for the alert system, receiving notifications via e-mail or text messages, he said.
If there is some kind of emergency residents need to know about, like the floods from last summer, this is an effective way of getting the information out there quickly, he said.
During October and November, test text alerts were sent out to this publication and others.
Over 8000 agencies throughout the country use the system, according to the company’s website.

Mayor Ralph DiGuiseppe III said the alert system will enable residents and visitors who sign up for Nixle alerts to be notified in real time of important information.
Cost for Bristol to implement the system is $4665.00 for the first year.
Years two and three come in at $4,320.00 each, officials said.
Morrisville Borough and Middletown Township have used Nixle in the past for emergency communications and safety alerts.
Borough residents can sign up by texting “Bristol Boro” to 888777, visiting the Nixle website, or downloading the Everbridge app.
