Two Lower Bucks Hospital (LBH) security guards were honored recently for saving a man’s life from death by suicide.
A source tipped off Lower Bucks Source Wednesday about the life saving event saying “these guys are heroes.”
Lower Bucks Hospital agrees and beginning after work hours last night and into Thursday morning with the help of LBH Spokeswoman Michelle Aliprantis, we were able to find out more about what exactly happened and the lifesaving response by Dylan Quinn, Darryl Stanton and LBH.
Quinn discovered a man hanging in a hospital bathroom and quickly called out to Stanton for help.
Aliprantis explained further.
Quinn and Stanton were honored with the WOW award for their remarkable vigilance and compassion. After a patient was discharged from the Emergency Department, Dylan noticed the individual spending an unusual amount of time in the restroom. Quinn’s attentive nature led him to discover the patient’s distressing attempt at self-harm. Acting quickly, he sought assistance from Stanton, and together they intervened to prevent a tragic outcome, ultimately saving the patient’s life, she said.

Soon after the lifesaving incident, the hospital, sources said, performed a review of bathroom designs for risk management purposes and to prevent potential reoccurrence.
Aliprantis, knowing suicide prevention month is days away, said, Lower Bucks Hospital is dedicated to ensuring the safety of our patients through various measures. One significant way we achieve this is by making modifications to our bathrooms to enhance patient safety. Preventing the risk of self-harm in bathrooms is a top priority for us, especially in areas like private bathrooms where supervision may be limited. We carefully assess potential ligature points such as sink components, coat hooks, door frames, and hinges to minimize any risks. Working closely with our Behavioral Health Director and Facilities Director, we collaborate to enhance bathroom safety by removing any items that could pose a threat, such as coat hooks, and reevaluating the layout of the bathrooms. This is just one of the many steps we take to protect the well-being of our patients and community.
