Updated: Man Struck and Killed on Rt 13 by Hit-and-Run Motorist Identified, Death Ruled ‘Accidental’

The bicyclist struck and killed in Bristol Borough by a hit-and-run driver Sunday just after midnight has been identified by authorities and his death has been ruled accidental by the Bucks County Coroner’s office.

The victim, 38 year-old Steven Robbins was a undomiciled white male, authorities said.

His death was ruled accidental and the cause was ‘blunt impact injuries,’ the Bucks County Coroner’s office said.

The delay in releasing the victims name, police said, was due in part  with making official notifications to  Robbins’ family members.

Robbins was a familiar figure in the Bristol area because the bicycle he rode had a cart attached to it making his bike easily recognizable.

According to police, officers were dispatched to the 230 block of Bristol Pike at around 12:20 am Sunday for the report of an alarm sounding. When officers arrived on scene, they discovered an unidentified male lying in the parking area of Metro PCS dead and a crumpled bicycle and smashed cart.

The bicycle, after being struck by an unidentified vehicle, slammed into one of the businesses in the small shopping strip triggering an alarm, police said.

The motorist fled after striking the bicyclist, Chief of Police Joe Moors said, within 90 minutes though, the “damaged” vehicle was discovered in Tullytown Borough.

Moors said a short while ago there is no further information to release on the investigation into locating the motorist who struck and killed Robbins as of publication time.
