A Thursday afternoon fire in Bristol Borough that destroyed a kitchen is now under investigation by Bristol Borough officials and the Bucks County Fire Marshal’s office.

Fire crews from  Bristol Borough, Third District, and Croydon were dispatched for a report of a dwelling fire at 431 Jefferson Ave just after 3 pm yesterday.

First arriving units found a light smoke condition in a room at the rear of the first floor, fire. Incoming units checked the adjacent dwellings and located a working fire in the kitchen of 433 Jefferson Ave, public safety officials said.

Bristol Borough Fire Chief Herb Slack said the fire was “knocked down”
utilizing a 1.75 inch hose line.

Slack said no injuries were suffered and no one was home at the time of the fire.

The kitchen area sustained heavy fire damage with heat and smoke damage in other areas of the first floor. The second floor sustained smoke damage, officials said.

“Cooking was ruled out as a possible cause.”

This is the third fire Bristol Borough investigators are looking into. The two fires at a Buckley Street home on August 18 are still being scrutinized officials said recently this week.

Other fire companies assisting Edgley, Newportville, Newport and Fairless Hills, Slack said.
