Kids Night at St Ann’s Carnival Breaks Records on Police Night

As you walked down Pond Street, approaching Dorrance Street, the unmistakable sounds of joy from children and the sweet aroma of tasty Italian food delights tapped you just like the gently breeze Tuesday night, as the St Ann’s Carnival.

Families were greeted by members of the Bristol Borough Police Department as they walked in, with children receiving arm bands for free rides and food, as classic Italian music sound-scaped the background to the carnival

Chief of Police Steve Henry said the carnival affords the department an excellent opportunity to meet residents of the borough and interact with them.

It’s important for the public, especially our youth to interact with our officers outside a police response. Events like these give us that opportunity,” Henry said.

Officers joined children on the various festival rides, with the department providing over 500 tickets, as Henry thanked the DeCaro family for helping to sponsor a night for the borough’s children.</

Master of ceremonies, Council President and event organizer Ralph DiGuiseppe said he was thrilled with the turnout for the event because of its importance to kids of the community.

“It gives Borough kids the opportunity who could never afford to be here, an opportunity to ride all night and enjoy the pizza and the food. And they have a great time.”

DiGuiseppe said with the help of our good friends at Bristol Enviornmental kids and families get to have a great time here at the Carnival and that’s what we want to see.

Its the second year the DeCaro family has sponsored kids at the festival in partnership with the police department.

The carnival continues through Saturday night, August 28 from 6 to 10 pm nightly.

“Its a great time,” Father Mooney said.

Parents are happy to be out. It’s just a joy to be in each other’s company again” he said.

Family Night is every night.  Ride all rides for $15 from 6 to 10 p.m. And on Saturday night, thanks to a donation from the Committee to Secure Bristol’s Future, everyone gets a $5 discount on wristband sales, officials said.
