New P/t Police Officer Introduced

Bristol Borough’s most recent addition to the police department was introduced to the officials and the public at Monday nights council meeting.

Ashley Beck,  of Bucks County, made her introductory appearance at Monday nights council meeting.

Beck is a graduate of Archbishop Ryan High School in Philadelphia, and attended the Philadelphia Police Academy to receive her Act 120 certification in 2017.

Officer in Charge, Sgt Joe Moors pointed to Becks specialized training as she worked for the SEPTA Police Department over the past five years.

  • Community Oriented Policing
  • SWAT Certification
  • Crisis Intervention Training (i.e. CIT)
  • De-escalation training

And last, but certainly not least, is Beck’s specialized training as a licensed drone pilot.

Moors said Beck’s drone expertise will come in handy to the department in the very near future.

She is going to be an asset to our police department and the community, said Moors and she’s a female.

The department hasn’t employed a woman police officer since 2014.

“Thank you for the opportunity. I am very excited to be a part of this police department and the community and start my police career here and see where it takes me” she said.

Beck is the third hire by the borough to serve as a part-time officer as several part timers left the force in 2021 for full time positions in other municipalities.

———————————————————————————————————————————————–In a police related council item, there was no discussion last night specific to the hiring of a new chief of police.

Borough Manager Jim Dillon said after last nights meeting, council is still going reviewing candidates.
