Last month first responders from the Bristol Borough Police, Bristol Fire Company-station 51 and the Bucks County Rescue Squad spent time with the kids attending Snyder-Girotti summer camp for a morning of safety talk, demonstrations and ice cream, provided through the generosity Galzerano Funeral Home.
There was also hard news to report from the first responders focused event too.
Bristol Borough Chief of Police Joe Moors announced recently hired police officer Ashley Beck will be the full-time School Resource Officer (SRO) beginning in September.
Bristol officials said the SRO position will be funded through a federal grant which won’t be applied the police departments budget. More information is expected to be released in the coming weeks as officials prepare for schools to open for the academic year in September.

Beck who came to Bristol after working for SEPTA Police for five years, said she’s truly honored to be chosen for the opportunity. Beck along with Devon Gonzalez, Matthew Sozio and Thomas A. Habgood, has all become fixtures at local schools since being hired.
“Its important the borough’s children get acquainted with the first responders who work in Bristol” Moors said.
“I want the children of Bristol Borough to know my officers by name and know they can always reach out to them anytime” the Chief of Police said.

Bristol Borough Fire Chief Herb Slack with fire fighters Deputy Chief Elizabeth Marandolo, Fire Prevention Officer, Kathleen Timperio Adams and Caitlin Peiffer Administrative support all from Bristol Fire Company 51 also were on hand to speak with campers and out fire safety.
Campers toured first responder vehicles, sounded sirens, and asked questions about calling 911 for help.

Personnel from the Bucks County Rescue Squad were also on hand providing campers with tours of a rescue squad ambulance and demonstrating rescue breathing skills for campers.
Shortly thereafter, campers had ice cream, pretzels and time of their own to mingle with first
responders.
Borough officials said similar first responder events are in the planning stages for the upcoming school year at the elementary and high school
